Subject: serial or network adapters

You could try proxim, I know they make serial and network 
wireless units. If you search the internet for wireless  
and serial, you will find several manufacturers with  
different units, depending on how much the boards need  
to communicate. Several that I found have multplexing so  
one unit can ack as a server to others, etc.
