Subject: Sound aquisition system

Hi 
Is there any way to capture sound using PC104 and transmit the clip to data server remotely? 
Is there any type of memory that you can use with PC104 to load operating system as well as store data? 
I am looking at low power solution unlike hard /disk drives,may be using some memory module. 
If you know then please let me know.
