Arcom to produce SBC-GX1 through 2010

Kansas City, USA and Cambridge, England – April 2004 – Arcom is making a commitment on the long term supply of their fan-less 300MHz SBC-GX1 embedded PC, successfully sold to many OEM machine and instrumentation builders. The SBC-GX1 is an EBX format (5.75” x 8”) single board computer powered by the popular 300MHz AMD Geode™ GX1 processor and targeted at fan-less systems. The board offers graphics accelerated CRT and TFT flat panel support, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, four serial ports (RS-232/RS-422/RS-485), digital I/O and expansion via a PCI slot, CompactFlash socket and the industry standard PC/104 bus. 
 
The SBC-GX1 was introduced in 2001 and is now fully supported by Arcom for all the leading embedded operating systems, including Windows CE .NET, XP Embedded, embedded Linux, QNX Neutrino, VxWorks 5.4 and 5.5, as well as Datalight’s ROM-DOS.  
 
In September 2003, the entire Geode GX1 product range was transferred from National Semiconductor to AMD. Based on the commitments made by AMD and market demand, Arcom expects to maintain production of the SBC-GX1 until at least 2010. Given the rapid progress of most embedded PC solutions (driven largely by the markets for desktop computers and set-top-box infotainment devices), the long term availability of the SBC-GX1 offers a real benefit to the industrial OEM market. 
Arcom supports the SBC-GX1 with a CE/UL approved industrial compact enclosure (ICE) and a simple add-on module (DC1) to drive low cost D-STN flat panel displays directly from the TFT output signals.
