Argon Technology’s low cost solution for managing networked clients and servers is fully compliant with the Wired for Management (WfM) specification.

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, May 17, 2004 – Argon Technology announces the immediate availability of their newest product, a fully managed Gigabit Ethernet PCI Network Adapter. The EN-ProG2000 gives network administrators the full benefit of network booting and remote client management. These include the ability to remotely deploy new operating systems, applications and image files. They can also run many administrative tasks automatically on startup, including virus scanning and file backups.
The EN-ProG2000 makes it affordable to extend Gigabit to the desktop. It’s easy to use with network applications and ideal for high speed servers. Based on the Realtek RTL8139S-32 Gigabit Ethernet controller, this single port adapter is capable of handling 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T network data.
The new adapter includes Argon’s Managed PC Boot Agent™ (MBA™) ROM as a standard feature. This popular firmware allows network administrators to take full advantage of the PXE (Preboot eXecution Environment) protocol. PXE is a basic element of the Intel® Wired for Management (WfM) specification, designed to simplify networked client management.
“With the EN-ProG2000, you can turn PCs into diskless workstations or thin-clients,” says Conrad Lawes, Argon’s Technical Services Manager. “It delivers robust Gigabit transmission to your client at up to 2000 Mbps.
“The design incorporates a 32-bit bus master for intelligent flow-control, high throughput and low CPU utilization,” Lawes adds. “That makes it a fast and reliable adapter for intense network applications. You can even carry out updates and maintenance during off-hours when your PCs are turned off, using the adapter’s Wake on LAN feature.”
In addition to PXE, the adapter’s MBA firmware supports RPL, NetWare, DHCP and BOOTP network booting protocols, giving users total flexibility. Many industry leaders offer MBA as a standard feature or option on their network adapters.

The EN-ProG2000 Gigabit Adapter is easy to install. It plugs into any available PCI expansion slot, and works with all popular client management softwares, including:
- 3Com® Boot Services, 3Com Virtual LAN Drive
- Argon Client Management Services
- Microsoft® Windows® Remote Installation Services (RIS)
- IBM® LANClient Control Manager
- Intel® LANDesk Configuration Manager
- ON Technology ONCommand CCM
- Computer Associate® Unicenter TNG

- Altiris® eXpress, and more.
Economically priced at $49.99 US, the EN-ProG2000 Gigabit Network Adapter comes with a 30 day Total Satisfaction Guarantee. It’s available for purchase online at www.ArgonShop.com.
